The Orkney Storytelling Festival is a celebration of the oral tradition in Orkney, with tales focusing on the history and heritage of the islands.

The Orkney Storytelling Festival will return for 2023 to showcase the finest stories from across the islands and further afield.

There is another exciting programme planned, with storytellers from around the world set to join our talented local contingent. As always, the schedule features walking story tours, island-hopping adventures, and the usual story sessions in-between. Tickets go on sale online on 1st October with any remainder available on the door before each event (not including the session at Betty's Reading Room, where tickets must be purchased beforehand).

The festival is a fantastic celebration of folklore and friendship, and of stories shared with each other. What better way to spend an autumn weekend in Orkney.

You can find out more about the festival via the official Facebook page. You can also learn more about traditional storytelling in Orkney, via the Orkneyology website.
